What is the musculoskeletal system?

The musculoskeletal system (also known as the locomotor system) is an organ system that gives humans the ability to move using their muscular and skeletal systems. The musculoskeletal system provides form, support, stability and movement to the body. It is made up of the bones of the skeleton, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, joints and other connective tissue that supports and binds tissues and organs together. A most important task of the bone tissue is the creation of blood cells. The hard surface of the skeleton provides a protective layer from external influences during the production of blood cells whilst the bone marrow in our leg bone, hip bone and sternum is responsible for the good running of our circulatory system by producing white blood cells and various other blood cells. Stem cells on the other hand develop into many different forms of cells responsible for our immunity, such as granulocytes, monocytes and lymphocytes.

What are some of the diseases which afflict the muscles, joints & bones?

Diseases of the musculoskeletal system are often traceable to imbalanced diet and improper nutrient intake. E.g. osteomalacia and osteoporosis are mainly due to a lack of required vitamins and minerals; joint diseases include gout and bursitis; muscular disorders generally cause backache.

Are there any supplements or heath products that can help me increase height?

Human height is basically determined by the amount of auxin secreted by the pituitary gland, alongside genetic factors and nutritional intake. However, it is mostly predetermined by genetics. There are hormone-enhancers available in the market today which stimulates the growth rate of bones. This however does not affect the final outcome, as the height is predetermined by genetic factors as mentioned before, what it does is merely speed up the period taken to reach one’s maximum height. Improper usage of hormones poses grave risk of cancer. The best way to increase height naturally is to nourish the body with a balanced nutrition, stretch, exercise, and ensure you get adequate amount of sleep.
